Traditional Actions and Indications

Traditionally used for manifestations of phlegm-dampness accumulation, such as coughing with copious phlegm, relatively thin and white phlegm, chest oppression, nausea, poor appetite, or dizziness. In modern applications, it is often used as a foundational formula for cough and digestive discomfort associated with the phlegm-dampness pattern.

  • People with dry cough, scant phlegm, marked dryness of the mouth and throat, or other manifestations of dryness should not use it on their own for an extended period.
  • Pregnant women, breastfeeding women, children, older adults, and people with chronic diseases are advised to consult a qualified professional before use.
  • The processing and dosage of pinellia in different products should follow the product instructions.
